The 12th Takeda Science Foundation Symposium on PharmaSciences

Invitation

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to The 12th Takeda Science Foundation Symposium on PharmaSciences, titled “ORGANOID 4D: Development, Disease, Diversity and Discovery”, held here in vibrant Osaka in January 2026.

In this new era of life sciences, organoid technology stands at the frontier—bridging developmental biology, disease modeling, regenerative medicine, and therapeutic discovery. This symposium gathers world-leading scientists from across the globe to illuminate the latest breakthroughs in organoid research and its far-reaching implications for health and human biology.

Our theme, “ORGANOID 4D,” captures the dynamic, multifaceted nature of this field:

  • Development, where we uncover the cellular dynamics and ensemble of embryogenesis and regeneration;
  • Disease, where organoids serve as patient avatars for understanding pathogenesis and innovating new treatments;
  • Diversity, embracing biological heterogeneity in health and disease with its high precision; and
  • Discovery, the endless horizon that organoid science continues to expand through multi-disciplinary approaches.

This year’s program showcases a remarkable array of technological breakthroughs, from the design principles of tissue organization, biological engineering, imaging, genomics, precision medicine to data science. You will experience science at its most transformative edge.

We are honored to kick off this event with the Sasai Memorial Symposium—a half-day pre-meeting event celebrating the visionary contributions of the late Dr. Yoshiki Sasai, whose pioneering work laid the foundation for today’s organoid revolution. His legacy continues to inspire bold, integrative science across disciplines and continents.

Equally important to us is fostering the next generation of inventors. We are proud to support outstanding young scientists through our generous poster awards, and we’ve created a dynamic space for intensive interactions between trainees and world leaders in the field. We hope that your experience here will be not only intellectually stimulating but also personally meaningful—full of unexpected connections, exciting debates, and memorable conversations.

We warmly invite you to immerse yourself in the science, the people, and the spirit of collaboration that defines this global community. Thank you for being part of this exciting journey.

We look forward to seeing the discoveries, friendships —and “serendipity”—that will emerge from this symposium.
